Dr. Kirsten Brown PT, DPT, received her doctoral degree in 2012 during a 6 year DPT program at Northeastern University located in Boston, MA. She moved to San Diego in 2013 and never looked back.
Dr. Brown’s passion for the human body and its function began with her experience as a personal trainer. She has had the opportunity to work with clients of all ages and with all athletic abilities. Her training focuses on plyometrics, Olympic lifting, and speed and strength conditioning. She finds great joy in treating those with sports medicine injuries whether it be a college
athlete or weekend warrior.
In 2019, Dr. Brown began to expand her knowledge and skill set in Pelvic Health. Diagnosis’ she most often sees include those with pelvic pain, urinary incontinence, OAB and those who are pre, peri and post-partum. Dr. Brown recognizes the importance and need for education and rehab for her ladies during and post pregnancy and is a major advocate for both mommy and baby’s health long term. Her ultimate goal is to bridge the gap between pelvic and sports rehab. Helping postpartum moms safely return to the recreational
activities and sports of their choosing.
Dr. Brown has completed numerous Pelvic Health courses through the Herman and Wallace Pelvic Rehabilitation Institute including Pelvic Floor levels 1, 2a and 2b. She has also successfully completed “Thriving Mama Training” a 3 month pre, peri and post-partum program under the mentorship of Dr. Marcy Crouch, PT, DPT, WCS. Kirsten has been able to take this wealth of knowledge and apply it to her existing orthopedic patients as well as any new patients with pelvic health concerns. Kirsten is also certified in the use of Graston Technique® soft tissue mobilization which has resulted in remarkable results with her patients. She has also successfully completed the 3 month WSPT manual therapy residency and has proven to be an excellent manual therapist utilizing many techniques such as pin and stretch, active
muscle pumping, muscle energy, joint mobilizations and myofacial release. She also has extensive experience with myofacial decompression cupping techniques.
