Dr. Stori Stanaway PT, DPT

August 23, 2017

Dr. Stori Stanaway, PT, DPT, completed her undergraduate studies at PLNU in 2020 where she received her Bachelor of Science in Applied Health Science.
She continued her post graduate studies where she attained her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from San Diego State University in 2023.

As a Doctor of Physical Therapy, Stori is very passionate about helping her patients return to the activities and lifestyles that they love.
Stori utilizes manual techniques such as soft tissue mobilization, trigger point release, joint mobilizations, proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF), pin and stretch techniques, and myofascial decompression cupping techniques. With these manual treatments in combination with personally targeted progressive exercises, Dr. Stori helps individuals maximize their recovery and make progress towards their functional and recreational goals.

Through her past experiences of education and clinical practice, Stori has
developed expertise to help patients recover from a multitude of orthopedic conditions. She also has clinical experience treating both vestibular and neurological conditions. This includes spinal cord injuries, stroke rehabilitation, Parkinson’s disease, traumatic brain injuries, concussions, and vertigo.
During her doctoral program, Stori performed research on runners. She analyzed both walking and running gait mechanics and found correlations between foot strike patterns, muscular imbalance, and the correlation to injury incidence. Stori now had a broad grasp of treatment methods to both rehabilitate as well as pre-habilitate runners.
Athletics is another area of immense interest for Stori. Having grown up participating in competitive gymnastics, she has always been drawn to the various ways the human body can be studied, trained, and rehabilitated. Her passion for sports as well as her deep understanding of anatomy and biomechanics, as well as a deep love of overall health and wellness has driven her to participate in sports rehabilitation to help athletes return to sport and prevent re-injury.

In her spare time, Stori enjoys weight lifting, paddle boarding, snowboarding, hiking, roller skating, and spending time with her husky, family, and friends. Her goal is to visit as many countries as possible
