Dr. Brittany Johnson PT, DPT, SCS received her Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree from the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences in San Marcos, CA in which she graduated with honors. She is a board certified clinical Sport Specialist in which she received her certification from the University of Rochester Sports and Orthopedic Medical Center. She performed clinical rotations in both Colorado and Oregon, as well as in her hometown, San Diego. She has treated a variety of patients including athletes, as well as spine, upper extremity and lower extremities in which she utilized manual therapy, functional rehabilitation and therapeutic exercise as her main treatment methods.
She pursued her passion for treating athletes by obtaining a sports certification specialty. Throughout her experience there, she developed an expertise in treating and rehabbing athletes of all levels including pediatrics to professionals. She worked alongside strength and conditioning coaches, athletic trainers, and other interprofessionals to provide a holistic treatment style for her patients. She has provided concussion therapy on and off field. She also specialized in return to sport testing with post operative ACL patients, ensuring that they are optimally equipped to return to play.
Dr. Brittany enjoys creating meaningful relationships with her patients while rehabilitating them to achieve their ideal quality of life. She has a passion for treating all sport and orthopedic based injuries, with a special preference toward knee and low back injuries in the athletic population. She enjoys utilizing a variety of manual techniques including mobilization with movement, cupping techniques, pin and stretch techniques, active release, myofascial decompression, and the utilization of graston tools. She focuses on encouraging functional movement and instilling lifestyle improvements through movement.
Dr. Brittany originally developed her passion for physical therapy while volunteering at colleges and outpatient clinics with athletic training and physical therapy. She also developed an understanding of the patient aspect through her own rehabilitation following several injuries from being involved in sports growing up. She competed at an international level in karate and has trained in krav maga, jiu jitsu and boxing. She also was a soccer player and track athlete. On her days off, you can find her doing activities outdoors, trying new foods, exploring San Diego and going to the beach.
