Micaela has enjoyed a passion for exercise and movement throughout her entire life. She was classically trained in ballet for thirteen years prior to deciding to study for her exciting new vocation in Physical Therapy. As Micaela continued and further advanced her career in ballet, she observed many of her fellow colleagues and dancers suffering from various and debilitating ankle, knee, and hip injuries.
Miceala had the unique opportunity to observe her fellow dancers throughout their healing journeys, due to the remarkable benefits of Physical Therapy. Micaela found anatomy and physiology fascinating, and decided it was time to leave her love of ballet and study how the body heals throughout the benefits of Physical Therapy.
Post Graduation with an AS degree in Kinesiology from Mount San Antonio College, Micaela was accepted into the highly competitive Loma Linda University Physical Therapy Program and received both her Professional Degree and her licensure as a Physical Therapist Assistant, graduating with honors.
Upon graduation, Micaela moved to Palm Springs California in order to further pursue a specialty in Clinical Orthopedics. While further establishing her career in Palm Springs, she received her Specialty Certification in Orthopedics from Evidence in Motion, specializing in many different Orthopedic diagnoses, inclusive of joint replacements, rotator cuff tears, and the management of chronic cervical and lumbar spine pain.
Since she has joined Water and Sports Physical Therapy, Miceala continues to progress her Manual Certification with the Neuro Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapy Institute. She has already received her Level One Lumbar Spine certification and continues to move forward with further manual professional certifications in the NOMPTI Residency Program.
Now that she has moved to San Diego, Micaela continues to enjoy her passions of outdoor activities such as hiking, and reading on the beach. In her spare time, Micaela enjoys her love for working out in the gym, weightlifting, and enjoying walking her dog Penny. In her free time, Micaela loves to continue to explore San Diego with its beautiful weather, along with trying out new and interesting things, such as art classes or new restaurants.
